The Diagnosis That Changed Everything
I was five years old when I was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. At that age, I didn’t understand the full weight of the diagnosis. But over time, I learned what it meant to live differently—and to rely deeply on God’s strength rather than my own.
What Is Muscular Dystrophy?
According to Muscular Dystrophy Canada (MDC), Muscular Dystrophy (MD) refers to a group of genetic diseases that cause progressive weakness and degeneration of skeletal muscles. Each type affects different muscles and varies in severity and speed of progression.
Multicore Myopathy: My Subtype

Multicore Myopathy (also known as Multiminicore Disease) is a rare congenital neuromuscular disorder, named for the “cores” seen in muscle tissue under a microscope—regions where fibers are disorganized and weak. This condition can lead to:
- General muscle weakness
- Difficulty with mobility and posture
- Breathing and respiratory challenges
- Physical fatigue and delayed motor development
I’ve experienced every one of these challenges—muscle weakness, limited mobility, postural difficulties, respiratory struggles, and persistent fatigue. For me, it has meant living with daily physical limitations and relying on a rolling walker for longer distances. And yet, through each weakness, God’s strength has held me up. He meets me in every step, in every breath, and reminds me that His grace is enough—even when mine runs out.
“He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.”
— Isaiah 40:29 (NKJV)
Cardiomyopathy and Heart Failure:
When the Heart Is Affected Too
Later, I was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy—a condition where the heart muscle becomes enlarged or weakened, leading to reduced pumping ability. This progressed to heart failure, and eventually, I received an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) to support heart function.

This diagnosis brought fear and more uncertainty, but also a deeper awareness of how fragile and miraculous life is. Through every doctor’s appointment, procedure, and recovery, God’s peace has carried me.
“My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
— Psalm 73:26
Faith in the Middle of the Fight

Some days are full of fatigue, brain fog, and deep pain. Others are full of joy, purpose, and clarity. I’ve learned that trusting God doesn’t require perfect strength—it simply requires showing up and surrendering.
Faith doesn’t always remove the pain, but it does carry you through it.
Living with Purpose Despite Limitations

I’m a wife to my best friend, Joshua, and a mother to two beautiful sons—both of whom I was never expected to have. Doctors once told me that motherhood would never be part of my story, but God had other plans. Every giggle, every hug, every bedtime prayer with my boys is a miracle that reminds me of His faithfulness.
I’m also a writer—a messenger of hope for others walking through the hard and hidden places of chronic illness. I don’t write from a platform of perfection. Instead, I write from the posture of someone who knows what it’s like to live with limitations. Through my words, I offer the same grace and strength that God has so generously poured into my life.
I’ve discovered that even when life looks nothing like what you imagined, God can still use it—fully, beautifully, and powerfully. His plans aren’t hindered by diagnoses, delays, or detours. If anything, He uses them to draw us deeper into our calling and into His heart.
To the One Walking This Road Too
If you’re living with chronic illness—or supporting someone who is—please hear this:
- You are not alone.
- You are not forgotten.
- You are not beyond God’s reach.
“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9
I Still Trust Him
This journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been holy. I trust God—not because everything is perfect, but because I’ve seen His hand in every imperfect day.

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
— Psalm 34:19
Every diagnosis. Every battle. Every breath. He is faithful. And I am still trusting Him.
